JOB PROFILE:To undertake, under the supervision of the Named Nurse, Care Practitioner and Senior Care Practitioners all duties in relation to the well-being of the residents by delivering the highest possible standards of care in a professional manner.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Some experience as a Care Assistant preferred. Ongoing training will be provided & must undertake QCF training


  • To take responsibility for completion of “In-House Induction” and the Care Council for Wales 12 week Common Induction Programme and participate in all training events which may be required either by Law or Company Standards, and then enrol for QCF training.
  • To provide all personal care and attention for each resident and to follow the activities of daily living in accordance with the planned care.
  • To ensure residents physical needs, comfort and dignity are met respectfully.
  • To promote dignity, respect, freedom and choice for all residents.
  • To assist all Nurses in the performance of their duties as requested and/or instructed
  • To encourage and assist residents to participate in leisure pursuits and ensure their social and emotional needs are met.
  • To maintain service-user and company confidentiality at all times.
  • To report any changes in resident’s physical or mental condition to the Named Nurse or his/her deputy and maintain accurate records on all forms as required.
  • Whenever possible / practicable to cover colleague’s duties in times of sickness, holidays, emergencies and serious incidents.
  • To abide by the Homes safety and security precautions at all times.
  • To comply with all employee responsibilities in respect of compliance with Health & Safety at Work, COSHH, environmental health and fire procedures etc, and to always abide by the Company’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • To use correctly as trained & instructed (not misuse) all equipment provided for Health & Safety compliance and supplied by the Company
  • To report promptly all complaints, however minor, to the Nurse-In-Charge or his/her deputy.
  • To undertake specific cleaning duties as required, replenish stocks of disposable items and laundry, and exercise cost control at all times.
  • To ensure residents clothing and toiletries are adequate and named and ensure deficiencies are reported to the Named Nurse or his/her deputy.
  • To take care to protect resident’s personal belongings.
  • To participate in assessment and evaluation of residents care.
  • To work as a key worker to a group of named residents.
  • To attend staff and other meetings as required by the Home Manager.
  • To be courteous and polite at all times and to develop good relations with residents, visitors and other professionals both inside and outside the Home.
  • To abide by the Company’s Quality Procedures, Policies and Work Practices and to report any such non-conformance to the nurse-in-charge, or manager, in the correct manner.
  • To answer the telephone calls politely and relay messages efficiently.
  • To participate in marketing activities as requested (e.g. showing visitors around)
  • To promote the good name of the Home and the Company at all times.
  • To co operate and maintain good working relationships with all staff.
  • To undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested by senior carers, nurses or the manager, in order to maintain the smooth running of the Home.
  • Reference and update on day-to-day running of Home by reading all memos etc.
  • Ensure awareness of Home Procedures & Policies by reading and signing all references in Matron’s / Manager’s office.

To participate as part of a team in providing care for service users. To assist in the planning and delivery of care to service users ensuring that their personal, physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs are met. To ensure that the service provides opportunities for service users to exercise choice and independence and participation in the community. To ensure that the personal dignity of each service user is promoted and that their privacy and confidentiality is respected.


RGN / RMN level I in Care, or equivalent – experience is an advantage but not essential. Training and development provided. NMC Registration Mandatory.


(a) To take responsibility (as and when delegated), in the absence of the manager or deputy, for the provision of care to service users and the safe running of the home.
(b) To contribute to the development of and assist with the implementation of individually planned programmes of care and activities according to each service users needs.
(c) To contribute to the establishment and review of care standards in the home.
(d) To undertake direct tasks and participate in shift changes if required.
(e) To undertake any reasonable task related to the provision of care as required by the manager of the home, from time to time.
(f) To report any problems/changes/complaints concerning the home or service users to the management.
(g) To have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety at Work, and awareness of policies and procedures within the home.

(i) To participate in the training and supervision of junior staff.
(j) To be up to date with developments in care, to attend training courses as required.
(k) To comply (as far as possible and practicable) with CSSIW Minimum Standards.


(a) To ensuring that the procedures relating to the administration of medicines/ controlled drugs to service users is adhered to.
(b) To assist in ensuring that clinical procedures are carried out effectively and follow good practice guidance.
(c) To ensuring that nursing upgrade of individual learning as required, is maintained and an appropriate personal portfolio kept.
(d) To communicate and cooperate with medical and paramedical staff regarding the care and treatment of service users and ensure that all treatment and instructions are carried out and documented.
(e) To assist mentoring of student nurses during their placements.


We currently have vacancies for contracts of up to 48 hours per week or on Bank/Zero hour basis. We are flexible to allow for the exigencies of the service, such as shift working, Bank Holidays.
